Fairmont State University to Honor Graduates at Fall Commencement Ceremonies

Fairmont State University will honor graduates during Fall Commencement Ceremonies on Saturday, November 20, with West Virginia Auditor, John B. “JB” McCuskey, joining the University’s platform party to provide the keynote address. The University will hold two separate ceremonies in the Feaster Center on campus.

Doddridge County Natives, Fairmont State Alumni Establish STEM Scholarship

Doddridge County natives and Fairmont State alumni, Dwight and Tina Moore, have donated $26,000 for the establishment of a new scholarship at Fairmont State University.

“It is through the generosity of the Moore family that future students will be able to attend Fairmont State. They truly understand the importance of education in becoming productive citizens,” said Fairmont State Foundation President, Gary K. Bennett.

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University will host a virtual event with Joe Valencic where he will discuss collecting family history on Monday, October 18 at 7 p.m. Throughout the program, Valencic will cover topics including how to interview family members, what questions to ask and how to make the most of online resources.

Fairmont State University Crowns Homecoming King and Queen

A pair of local students were voted Homecoming royalty by their fellow classmates at Fairmont State University’s 2021 Homecoming celebration over the weekend.  

Seniors Grant Elliott and Katlyn Cunningham, both North Marion High School graduates, were crowned Homecoming King and Queen by reigning royalty, Ja’Lon Staples and Trang Ta, at Saturday’s football game against Alderson Broaddus University during halftime.
