A gallery exhibition by Derek Reese, a Pittsburgh-based artist and former Fairmont State University adjunct professor, is now on display in the J.D. Brooks Gallery in Wallman Hall through February 4.

“It’s such an amazing opportunity to be able to exhibit this work at the place that gave me my start in my career,” said Reese.

Fairmont State University’s Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center will continue the Trunk of Traditional Tunes series highlighting traditional music and musicians. 

Two sisters from Marion County, along with family and friends, have chosen to honor the life of their mother with a gift to Fairmont State University, totaling $26,000. The gift will establish the Estaline May Fleming Memorial Scholarship supporting students in the College of Education, Health and Human Performance.

Fairmont State University representatives will travel to Charleston on Friday, January 14 to highlight the University’s offerings at the West Virginia State Capitol during Fairmont State Day at the Legislature.
 

Fairmont State University is proud to announce Dr. Joseph Han has been selected for the Associate Vice President of Facilities Management position. Han will begin his tenure at Fairmont State on Tuesday, January 18.

Fairmont State University and the Tygart Valley United Way will honor the values and legacy of the late Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Thursday, January 13 through the MLK Day of Service benefitting three local agencies.

Fairmont State University has received a six-year grant totaling $749,693 through the National Science Foundation’s Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics program (S-STEM).

 The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center will be open for a series of events taking place each second Saturday of the month beginning in January and continuing through April. The first of the events will take place on Saturday, January 8.

For the second year in a row, Fairmont State University’s Student Government Association has partnered with Marion County Schools to deliver Christmas gifts to local children and their families through the Christmas with a Falcon sponsorship program.

An opportunity to represent the Fighting Falcons on the volleyball court led junior Amelia Moore to explore Fairmont State University during a recruiting visit three years ago.

“I immediately fell in love with the campus,” she said.
