WV REC Foundation Aerial Drone Signature Event to take place in Falcon Center

Middle to high school age students will have the opportunity to participate in the West Virginia REC Foundation Aerial Drone Signature Event February 25 – 26 in the Falcon Center on the University’s campus. Activities to take place throughout the weekend include an aerial drone tournament, NASA educator training, an aviation career expo, among others.

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center’s Trunk of Traditional Tunes continues Sunday, February 20 at 2 p.m. with musician and president of the West Virginia Folk Festival, David O'Dell. A Trunk of Traditional Tunes is a series dedicated to celebrating the traditional music of West Virginia, funded by the West Virginia Humanities Council through a CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant.

Fairmont State Forensic Science Program to Host 'Kickin it for Katy' 5K

The Fairmont State University Forensic Science Program will host the ‘Kickin it for Katy’ 5K run and walk on Saturday, April 2 on the University’s campus. All proceeds from the races will go to the Kaitlynn Towson Forensic Memorial Award to raise awareness around suicide prevention, benefitting Fairmont State students enrolled in the Forensic Science program.

Fairmont State University General Scholarship Deadline Approaching

Both current and incoming Fairmont State students are encouraged to complete the University’s General Scholarship application prior to the March 1 deadline. Applications submitted will determine eligibility for funding for the 2022 – 2023 academic year, awarded through the Fairmont State Office of Financial Aid and academic departments.

Liebrecht holds more than a decade of experience in development roles. In recent years, he has been actively partnering with organizations throughout north central West Virginia to promote change and growth in the region. Fairmont State Architecture Students Awarded Scholarships from the AIAWV

Fairmont State University architecture students, Mary Pierson-Escalona and Chloe Wean, were awarded scholarships from the West Virginia American Institute of Architects in late 2021.

Each year the AIA provides a scholarship to a senior and junior architecture student for their outstanding work on a project completed over the course of a semester. Seven projects were selected this year, and the finalists presented virtually to the selection committee in early December.

Fairmont State University to host WV Governor’s Honors Academy

State Superintendent of Schools W. Clayton Burch announced Fairmont State University has been selected from a field of applicants to host the West Virginia Governor’s Honors Academy (GHA) in 2022 through 2024. The non-credit program for current high school juniors is scheduled for June 25 - July 15, 2022.
