The future workforce of West Virginia will be on display at the SkillsUSA West Virginia Championship hosted at Fairmont State University Friday, March 25 – Saturday, March 26. SkillsUSA aims to provide solutions to the current and future demand for a skilled workforce by preparing career and technical students for jobs available within the state.

The Fairmont State University Community Arts Program will host the BETA Quartet as they present a concert to honor individuals working in healthcare professions throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. The concert will take place on Saturday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Wallman Hall Theatre, with all proceeds benefitting the Society of Critical Care Medicine.

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center’s Trunk of Traditional Tunes continues Wednesday, March 16 at 7 p.m. with West Virginia native, Emily Hilliard. During her presentation, Hilliard will discuss folk music and collecting folklore. A Trunk of Traditional Tunes is a series dedicated to celebrating the traditional music of West Virginia, funded by the West Virginia Humanities Council through a CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant.

A Trunk of Traditional Tunes is a series dedicated to celebrating the traditional music of West Virginia, funded by the West Virginia Humanities Council through a CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant.

Fairmont State University welcomed its first Fulbright Scholar since the 1999 - 2000 academic year earlier this semester.

The Fairmont State University Community Arts will present the 2022 Song of Hope on Friday, March 11 at 7:30 p.m. The performance will take place in-person in the Wallman Hall Theatre, with all proceeds benefitting the Tygart Valley United Way.

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center’s Trunk of Traditional Tunes continues Sunday, March 6 at 2 p.m. with West Virginia musician and National Endowment for the Humanities Heritage Fellow, John Morris. A Trunk of Traditional Tunes is a series dedicated to celebrating the traditional music of West Virginia, funded by the West Virginia Humanities Council through a CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant.

Fairmont State University will host future Falcons on campus during Maroon & White Day on Saturday, April 9. The spring visitation day provides the opportunity for both traditional and non-traditional prospective students and their families to explore the University’s offerings.

The Fairmont State University Center for Career Services and Civic Engagement will host the Spring Career Fair on Thursday, March 17 in the Falcon Center. The annual Career Fair is the largest networking event of the academic year, which allows for both students and alumni to engage with local and national employers.

Fairmont State University was recognized by the West Virginia Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America at its annual Crystal Awards Ceremony, which celebrates the campaigns and tactics work of public relations practitioners, agencies and college students throughout the state.
