Fairmont State honored spring graduates during the University’s 153rd Commencement in the Feaster Center. The University celebrated the achievements of its newest alumni from each of its five colleges during ceremonies taking place throughout the weekend, including two special student athlete ceremonies and Fairmont State Alumni Golden Jubilee Celebration for the Class of 1972.
Fairmont State University is proud to announce Jeffrey McCormick has been named the University’s Chief of Police and Director of Police Academy. He brings 30 years of law enforcement experience to the position, beginning his tenure at Fairmont State on Monday, April 25.

Fairmont State University’s Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center will host a Spring Celebration on Thursday, April 28 at 7 p.m. The event will begin with a short concert by the Kennedy Barn String Band, followed by an awards ceremony and concluding with a brief introduction to the Trunk of Traditional Tunes Museum Exhibit.
Fairmont State is proud to announce Stephanie Harrod has been named the University’s Vice President for Human and Legal Affairs and General Counsel. Harrod began her tenure at Fairmont State on Monday, April 18.
The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center recently hosted the M.M. Neely Persuasive Speaking Contest where Fairmont State University students presented persuasive speeches based on extensive research, and were judged on the quality of their arguments and delivery of presentation.
Fairmont State University Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering Technology, Tabitha Lafferre, was recently recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers for her work as a committee co-chair for the 2020 West Virginia Infrastructure Report Card.
The West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics has named Fairmont State University student, Megan Kite, the recipient of its 2022 Walter Regula Mathematics Teacher-in-Training Grant. The $600 award is granted annually to an outstanding college or university student training to become a mathematics teacher with intentions of teaching in West Virginia.

Fairmont State University will welcome prospective students and their families to campus on Saturday, April 9 for Maroon & White Day. The spring visitation day affords the opportunity for both traditional and non-traditional students to explore the University’s offerings.
