Despite the changes of going digital, Fairmont State University senior Emily Gersper earned third place at the West Virginia Collegiate Business Competition recently held in a virtual environment. 

With the ongoing pandemic, the usual in-person pitch and presentation of the business plans was moved completely online. Gersper earned her place as a finalist in the state competition after the regional competition in February. 

Fairmont State University’s senior Emily Gersper earned a spot as a finalist for the West Virginia Collegiate Business Competition, the first finalist to come from the University, and then went on to break the Feaster Center Pool 100-yard breaststroke record on Friday, January 31, 2020.  

Fairmont State University was visited by almost 100 West Virginia high school students for the Winners’ Circle event on Monday. This event is held for the students who are headed to the Future Business Leaders of America national conference in June.  

Jim Davis, assistant professor for the School of Business, said the Winners’ Circle is held in different places every year and was honored to have them on Fairmont’s campus this time. 

On Thursday afternoon, Fairmont State business students took advantage of a unique opportunity to hear about industry trends and to gain insight into the job market they soon will be entering from local business leader, Larry Mazza.
