Fairmont State University’s Police Academy welcomed the first ever class of police cadets on Monday, January 16. 16 cadets from 10 different state agencies arrived on campus to begin their 16-week journey towards becoming certified West Virginia law enforcement officers.
Fairmont State University is proud to announce Jeffrey McCormick will join the College of Liberal Arts as Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice. This will be in addition to his previous role as Director of the Police Academy.
For the fourth year in a row, Fairmont State University embarked on its annual Falcon Day of Giving on Thursday, October 27. During this 24-hour fundraising marathon, 891 alumni and friends joined together to raise more than $375,000 supporting 44 colleges and programs throughout campus. During this year’s Day of Giving, donors provided nearly $109,000 for scholarships, and $174,000 for athletic programs.
Fairmont State University is preparing for the launch of its Police Training Academy slated to begin in January. The Fairmont State Police Academy is a rigorous, academically based training program that prepares cadets to enter the law enforcement profession upon graduation.
On Wednesday, May 18 members of the campus and surrounding communities attended the swearing-in of Fairmont State University Chief of Police and Director of Police Academy, Jeffrey McCormick, with Marion County Circuit Court Judge, the Honorable Patrick Wilson, officiating.
Fairmont State University is proud to announce Jeffrey McCormick has been named the University’s Chief of Police and Director of Police Academy. He brings 30 years of law enforcement experience to the position, beginning his tenure at Fairmont State on Monday, April 25.
