Ginny Hawker will demonstrate and discuss traditional ballad singing at the Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University on Sunday, October 17 at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, sponsored by the West Virginia Humanities through a CARES Act grant.

This collection of outdoor photography by local artists Cynthia Staley and John Dent was curated by Danielle Doss, a 2021 Fairmont State University graduate. The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center has received a grant of $7,500 from the Daywood Foundation in support of Ruth Ann Musick’s Trunk of Tales, a Fairmont State University project to promote folklore and West Virginia cultural heritage studies in K-12 public schools in the state.
The Frank and Jane Gabor WV Folklife Center announces its schedule of public events for the 2020 Spring Semester. The Folklife Center, located in an historic barn on the campus of Fairmont State University, is dedicated to the preservation and perpetuation of West Virginia’s cultural heritage.
The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center is seeking volunteers to serve as docents for Folklife Center tours. The docents will provide tours and information about the Folklife Center exhibits to school groups and other visitors. Docents are usually people with flexible schedules who like talking about history and culture. They should also enjoy working with groups of all ages and answering questions.
