The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center’s Trunk of Traditional Tunes continues Sunday, February 20 at 2 p.m. with musician and president of the West Virginia Folk Festival, David O'Dell. A Trunk of Traditional Tunes is a series dedicated to celebrating the traditional music of West Virginia, funded by the West Virginia Humanities Council through a CARES Act Emergency Relief Grant.

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University is pleased to announce “Wonderful West Virginia,” an online photography exhibit that celebrates the natural beauty of our state. This collection of outdoor photography by local artists Cynthia Staley and John Dent was curated by Danielle Doss, a 2021 Fairmont State University graduate. The exhibit is available through “LibGuides,” a service of Fairmont State University’s Ruth Ann Musick Library.

Fairmont State University Folklife Center Receives Grant for K-12 Education Initiative Exploring Folklore and Cultural Heritage

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center has received a grant of $7,500 from the Daywood Foundation in support of Ruth Ann Musick’s Trunk of Tales, a Fairmont State University project to promote folklore and West Virginia cultural heritage studies in K-12 public schools in the state.

Folklife Center seeking volunteers to serve as docents

The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center is seeking volunteers to serve as docents for Folklife Center tours. The docents will provide tours and information about the Folklife Center exhibits to school groups and other visitors.  Docents are usually people with flexible schedules who like talking about history and culture. They should also enjoy working with groups of all ages and answering questions.
