The Fairmont State University department of music will present a concert performance of Henry Purcell’s opera “Dido and Aenea”. Former West Virginia Symphony Orchestra conductor, Grant Cooper will lead an ensemble of professional soloists, Baroque instrumentalists, and the Fairmont State Collegiate Singers and Community Chorus. There will be two performances: Friday, April 27, 7:30p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont, and Saturday, April 28, 7:30p.m.
The Fairmont State University Choirs will present a concert entitled “Voyages” at the First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont on Friday, March 23, 7:30p.m. The concert will feature the Fairmont State Collegiate Singers, Chamber Choir, and Community Chorus. The concert is free and open to the public.
On Friday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m., choirs from Fairmont State University and Greenbrier East High School will present a choral concert at the First Presbyterian Church, Jackson St., Fairmont. The program, titled “Healing Through Harmony,” is a benefit to raise money for victims of the flooding that struck West Virginia in June 2016. Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. A goodwill offering will be taken.
The Fairmont State University Community Chorus and the Cambridge Handbell Choir of the First Presbyterian Church of Fairmont will present a traditional Service of Lessons and Carols at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, at the First Presbyterian Church, 301 Jackson St., Fairmont. The program is free and open to the public. A goodwill offering will be collected.
