Inaugural White Coat Ceremony held to honor Nursing students

Fairmont State University hosted its inaugural White Coat Ceremony for the School of Nursing as a new tradition to symbolize the move into clinical practice and providing compassionate care by nursing students. 

Dr. Laura Clayton, associate dean for the School of Nursing, said the White Coat Ceremony was something she wanted to bring to the University because of the symbolic importance.

Mon Health Medical Center Foundation Provides $200,000 Investment in Nursing Education

The Mon Health Medical Center Foundation is proud to present a two-year investment of $200,000 to expand Fairmont State University’s capacity for nursing education. Through this investment, Fairmont State University will be able to hire additional faculty that in turn will allow more students to be trained in the field of nursing.   

Associate of Science in Nursing receives continuing accreditation

Fairmont State University is pleased to announce that the Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) program in the School of Nursing has received continuing accreditation of their program from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) on April 26, 2019.  The program achieved continuing accreditation for a period of eight years, which is the maximum time awarded by ACEN. The next accreditation visit will be in the Fall 2026.
