Items Being Collected for New Campus Food Bank

Fans of the Fighting Falcons are asked to bring non-perishable food items to the first home football game on Saturday, Sept. 22, to support a new campus food bank called The Nest. Community members who bring a food item will receive free admission to the game, courtesy of the FSU Department of Athletics.

The Nest is being created to assist students at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College.

PROMISE Recipients Learn How to Renew Their Scholarship

PROMISE Scholar Freshmen are invited to meet with their PROMISE Academic and Financial Aid Advisors, as well as the Director of Community Service Learning at one of two meetings scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 12:30p.m. in Hardway Hall (Rm) 219 and Wednesday, October 19, 2011  at 3:00p.m. in Library MMB.  The meetings should last approximately 45 minutes.  Pizza will be served.

Free Math Tutoring Offered

FSU Counts, a free math tutoring program offered by Fairmont State University is planning for its fall session to be held on the Fairmont campus.  The free math tutoring program is offered to students grades four through eight who are experiencing math difficulties.

 

The program is supervised by Pam Kabulski and coordinated by Donna Yergovich Nuzum. The program is structured to emphasize math homework difficulties and assist with specific math difficulties. 

Fairmont State Receives National Recognition for Community Service

The Corporation for National and Community Service has honored Fairmont State University as a leader among institutions of higher education for its support of volunteering, service-learning and civic engagement. 

FSU was admitted to the 2010 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for engaging its students, faculty and staff in meaningful service that achieves measurable results in the community.
