Fairmont State University’s American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter continues its tradition of excellence and for the 12th consecutive year will represent the region at the National Concrete Canoe Competition.
Fairmont State University Math Department faculty members, along with FSU pre-service mathematics teachers, attended the West Virginia Council of Teachers of Mathematics Annual Conference on March 13 and 14 at the Stonewall Jackson Resort.
The two-day conference focuses on learning from other mathematics teachers in West Virginia about ways to improve mathematics instruction.

Two Fairmont State University seniors were selected to participate in the 12th annual Undergraduate Research Day at the Capitol on Wednesday, March 4. More than 100 students from across the state shared original research projects highlighting the importance of West Virginia higher education to the state Legislature.
The North Central West Virginia Regional Math, Science, Energy and Engineering Fair to be hosted on the Fairmont State University campus in Fairmont on Saturday, Feb. 21, has been postponed to Saturday, March 7, due to expected inclement weather
Middle and high school students who have registered to participate should contact their science teacher for more information. No additional project registrations will be accepted past the original deadline.
Fairmont State University will host the 2015 Dominion West Virginia State Science and Engineering Fair on March 27 and 28 on its main campus in Fairmont. Entries are being sought from West Virginia students in grades nine through 12.
The deadline for submissions is March 16. Early bird registration is available through Feb. 23. To allow the Scientific Review Committee to thoroughly review all projects prior to the WVSSEF, no late registrations will be accepted.
The 2014 RESA 7 Science Bowl will take place on Thursday, Dec. 11, in the Engineering Technology Building on the main Fairmont State University campus. The competition is hosted and sponsored in collaboration with RESA 7; Fairmont State University; and the U.S. Department of Energy, National Energy Technology Laboratory.
Competition begins at 9 a.m. with the final round to determine the winner starting at 2:30 p.m. in Room 303 of the Engineering Technology Building.
The Fairmont State University College of Science and Technology will host the West Virginia FIRST® LEGO® League (FLL) State Championship robotics tournament on Saturday, Dec. 6.
The event will take place at the Falcon Center and will be open to the public from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6. More than 1,000 people from across the state, including 46 student teams, are expected to attend.
