The City of Fairmont Utilities Stormwater Program will hold its sixth annual Stream Cleanup Day on Wednesday, April 12, in conjunction with the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection’s 2017 Make It Shine program. Fairmont State University Construction Manager Stephanie Slaubaugh and about 15 FSU students plan to participate.

Thanks to collaboration by Fairmont State University and the City of Fairmont, students enrolled in Community Health Education at the University have had the opportunity to identify health and safety needs in Fairmont and are implementing projects to address those needs.

Thanks to collaboration by Fairmont State University, the City of Fairmont and community volunteers, the Fairmont Community Garden fuels neighborhood revitalization, hands-on learning for students, healthy nutrition and the campus student food bank. For these efforts in promoting a sustainable community, the project was named in fall 2014 as a national winner in the Ford College Community Challenge, the only winner in West Virginia.
