Fairmont State University is announcing the retirement of Budd Sapp, a tenured professor in the School of Education as well as the faculty representative on the Board of Governors.
A graduate of Fairmont State, Sapp taught and coached 17 years in the Marion County school system before beginning his work at Fairmont State in 1997 as a public school teaching fellow and officially joining the University in 1998.
Each year, participants in Leadership Marion plan an annual project to benefit the community. This year, the Leadership Marion XXXIII class invites the community to participate in their spring event, the “Spring into Action Fair.” In partnership with the United Way of Marion County, this event will celebrate National Volunteer Week by bringing the community together and raising awareness and funds for Marion County’s non-profit organizations.
As part of Homecoming 2013 for Fairmont State University, six exceptional alumni will be honored at the annual Alumni Awards Brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.
Sponsored by Thrasher Engineering, the event will be held in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Visit www.fairmontstate.edu/homecoming to view a complete list of events and additional information.
