Six Alumni to Be Honored as Part of Homecoming 2013

As part of Homecoming 2013 for Fairmont State University, six exceptional alumni will be honored at the annual Alumni Awards Brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12.

Sponsored by Thrasher Engineering, the event will be held in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Visit www.fairmontstate.edu/homecoming to view a complete list of events and additional information.

Welcome Reception Planned for Coach Jason Woodman

The Fairmont State Alumni Association is hosting welcome reception for Head Coach Jason Woodman as the Fighting Falcons prepare to kick off the 2013 football season.

Woodman and his staff will be available to meet and greet Falcon Fans during the event scheduled for 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, at the Erickson Alumni Center. Admission is free and open to the public. Hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be available.

Gift from Alumnus Supports Student Scholarships

Fairmont State University students will benefit from the gift of an alumnus who believed education was a way to create opportunity.

William Claude “Bill” Waters, who spent his career dedicated to education, passed away in July 2012 at age 93. Through a bequest from his estate, Waters has provided a $730,000 gift to the Fairmont State Foundation, Inc., that will be used for FSU student scholarships. Waters previously made more than $63,000 in gifts to the University.

Alumni Association Awards First Lifetime Achievement Award

Frank Pulice, Jr. was presented with the first Fairmont State Alumni Association Lifetime Achievement Award on Saturday, May 11. The award was created to show appreciation for alumni who have dedicated years of service to the association and to the institution.
