Each year, the Fairmont State Alumni Association celebrates the achievements of former students and honors them at the annual Alumni Awards Brunch during Homecoming.

Homecoming 2015, planned for Oct. 22 through 24, will include special events to commemorate FSU’s Sesquicentennial.

Fairmont State alumni and the community are invited to submit the name of distinguished alumni in three categories: Alumni of Achievement, Outstanding Alumni and Outstanding Young Alumni Awards.

The Fairmont State Alumni Association is partnering with the Upshur County Convention & Visitors Bureau to host an after hours social in Buckhannon on Friday, Feb. 20.

“The Alumni Association looks forward to connecting with Falcons in the Buckhannon area,” said Emily Swain, Director of Alumni Relations. “We would like to thank Laura Meadows, who won our 2013 Outstanding Young Alumna Award, for helping to make this event possible.”

As part of Homecoming 2014 for Fairmont State University, six exceptional alumni will be honored at the annual Alumni Awards Brunch at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25.

Sponsored by Thrasher Engineering, the event will be held in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. Visit www.fairmontstate.edu/homecoming to view a complete list of events and additional information.

A new fashion brand with Marion County roots provides high-end, handmade, art-inspired products. Showcased as part of Septemberfest, Beth Keener LLC is a partnership company owned and operated by Farmont State University alumnae Beth Keener and Melissa Craig.

The Fairmont State Alumni Association is hosting a Game Day Tailgate on Saturday, Sept. 13, for Fighting Falcon fans attending the football game at Shepherd University.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. in Lot B at Shepherd University. Admission is $10 per person and includes a picnic lunch. Limited reserved parking is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Game tickets are available at the gate. Kickoff is at noon.

Connecting students, Fairmont State University alumni and the community, Septemberfest will offer vendors, music, family activities, a high-end fashion runway show and more in downtown Fairmont on Saturday, Sept. 20. Septemberfest is part of Family Weekend, planned for Friday through Sunday, Sept. 19 to 21.

Fairmont State University alumni and friends, as well as their families, are invited to attend the third annual Picnic at the Park on Sunday, Aug. 24, in Harrison County.

The Fairmont State Alumni Association will host the event from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 24, at the Overlook Shelter at Veteran’s Memorial Park in Clarksburg. Jaws BBQ will provide lunch, and activities for kids are planned.

Fairmont State University alumni and friends are invited to attend a stop in the five-city tour planned by the Fairmont State Alumni Association and the Office of Admissions this spring.
