The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts and Masquers theatre group will present Bernard Pomerance’s "The Elephant Man," directed by Jeffrey Ingman, on two consecutive weekends: Sept. 23, 24 and 25 and Sept. 29, 30 and Oct. 1. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Wallman Hall Theatre with the exception of Sunday, Sept 25, which is a matinee performance at 2 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased through the Box Office at (304) 367-4240.
The Office of International Student Services will host a Welcome Reception for International Students at the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, in the Falcon Center third floor conference rooms.
Do you have the backbone to get into a canoe made out of concrete on Cheat Lake? How about racing that concrete canoe after it has just snapped in half and has been duct taped back together? Fairmont State’s ASCE Concrete Canoe team used their Backbone in more than one way to recently do just that.
At Fairmont State University, students are the first priority. A new campaign this fall with the theme “be First” helps share that message. The first campaign launch event took place Monday, Aug. 15, at the fall welcome meeting for faculty.
Welcome Weekend for new students at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College begins today, Aug. 18. The program is designed to provide incoming freshmen with the information they need to start their college experience moving in the right direction. Classes for the fall 2011 semester begin Monday, Aug. 22.

Fans of musicals will not want to miss Fairmont State University’s production of “Annie Get Your Gun” at the newly remodeled amphitheatre at Prickett’s Fort State Park. The School of Fine Arts Town & Gown Players will present the Irving Berlin classic at 8 p.m. July 14, 15 and 16. Due to popular demand, an additional performance has been added for 8 p.m. July 17.
