A presentation and discussion titled “From Belfast Northern Ireland to North Central West Virginia” will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, in Multi-media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College.
Fairmont State University officials honored BrickStreet Mutual Insurance Company for a gift that made possible the purchase of the new high technology scoreboard at Duvall-Rosier Field.
During half-time of the Fighting Falcons football game on Nov. 3, FSU officials recognized BrickStreet President and CEO Greg Burton and his wife Kim and BrickStreet Special Projects Consultant Skip Tarasuk with crystal awards and FSU logo jackets to officially dedicate the new scoreboard and to commemorate BrickStreet’s support of FSU Athletics.
The Office of Student Activities of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will host First Nation’s Intertribal Singers and Dancers featuring Moontee Sinquah for a free public performance at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Colebank Hall Gym
The Sinquah family will perform traditional Hopi songs and hoop dances. Moontee Sinquah is the patriarch of the family and will be joined by his sons Scott and Sampson and younger cousin Zachary Smith.
Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will observe Veterans Day 2012 with three events sponsored by Student Government and the Student Veterans Organization.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 6, a Veterans Resource Fair will take place in the Main Street area, located on the second floor of the Falcon Center. Organizations that provide services to veterans will be on hand to provide information to FSU and Pierpont students.
Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will participate in the nationally recognized International Education Week with events intended to celebrate diversity and internationalization.
“Paradise Lost," an epic poem written by John Milton will be read at 9 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 5, at the Milton Marathon event located in the Ruth Ann Musick Library on the third floor outside of the Skylab.
“It is one of the most beautiful works in English Literature and one that grapples with questions of free will and religious faith,” said Donna J. Long, Professor of English.
The Fairmont State University Marching Band Stadium Review Concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, at Colebank Hall Gym. Admission to the event is free and open to the public.
UPDATE (10/29/2012): Fairmont State University Athletic Department: We are canceling the celebration for Larry Hill for tonight, and tentatively will reschedule for next Monday, November 5 – same time, same place. The game is also cancelled. The game will now be held next Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Joe Retton Arena.
Fairmont State University Head Volleyball Coach Larry Hill will be recognized for a milestone in his 29-year career of guiding the Falcons on Monday, Oct. 29, at Joe Retton Arena at the Feaster Center.
Fairmont Rugby players have been invited to participate in the Three Rivers Rugby Conference All-Star Match at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Grove City College in Pennsylvania.
The Fairmont Rugby team is recognized as part of the Club Sports Program through the Office of Student Affairs, which serves Fairmont State and Pierpont Community & Technical College. The Club Sports program complements the Intramural Sports Program and the Varsity Athletic Program.
A Choral Concert featuring choral groups from the community and schools of Marion County will benefit the United Way of Marion County.
The event will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 4, in Colebank Hall Gym on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College. Doors open at 1 p.m. Admission is by donation, and all proceeds will benefit the United Way.
The program will include musical selections by Fairmont State student Anthony Errigo.
