The Frank and Jane Gabor West Virginia Folklife Center on the shared main campus of Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community & Technical College will host a special presentation in March as part of its Folk Cultural Series.
The Instructor Exchange Ad-Hoc Committee of the Fairmont State University Faculty Senate will host a Panel Discussion on Fractals in Arts and Sciences. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Multi-media Room A of the Ruth Ann Musick Library on the shared main campus of Fairmont State and Pierpont Community & Technical College.
Issue 31 of Whetstone, Fairmont State University’s undergraduate arts and literary journal, recently won First Place with Special Honors in the 2012 Scholastic Magazine Awards competition hosted by the American Scholastic Press Association. The journal also won an award for Outstanding Use of Color.
Fairmont State Counts, a free math tutoring program offered by Fairmont State University is planning for its spring session to be held on the Fairmont campus. The tutoring program is offered to students in fourth through eighth grades who are experiencing math difficulties.
The one hour/once a week sessions, which run for eight weeks, are offered Tuesdays or Thursdays. The program starts Feb. 19. Cathy Woodson is coordinating the sessions.
A grant from Lockheed Martin Corporation, IS&GS National will support Fairmont State University’s Open Source Intelligence Exchange (OSIX), which is the laboratory and applied research component of the National Security and Intelligence (NSI) program.
