Rome

Day 3 - Wednesday, June 13 - Rome.

This morning, we will transfer to Vatican City to attend the Papal audience.  Afterwards, we continue sightseeing with our local guide.  We start with a visit to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, world famous for Michelangelo's ceiling paintings and The Last Judgment. We continue to the monumental St. Peter's Square and Basilica.  The Basilica di San Pietro & Musei Vaticani are listed number 1 and 2 of the top 25 must-see sites in Rome.  Tonight, dinner at the hotel.  Overnight Rome.

Today we began our tour with a bus ride to the Vatican. We joined thousands of others to see the Pope. It was very hot in sunny Italy today. Many of us sampled the water in the public fountains. So far there are no reports of unsavory after effects. After the Pope's appearance, we took in a light lunch and then met again to tour the Vatican City. After a thorough tour courtesy of our local guide Marco, we returned to our hotel to get ready for another special dinner. Once again we were pleasantly entertained. We all enjoyed the dinner and Italian hospitality. The ladies all received roses before returning to our hotel. Tomorrow Pompeii!
