  • Presented by the School of Nursing and Allied Health Administration
  • Criteria set by awarding department
Sergeant Todd May Memorial Scholarship
  • Preference is given to (1) nieces/nephews of Sergeant May who attend either FSU or Pierpont; (2) law enforcement officers in Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department majoring in Criminal Justice at FSU; (3) employees and their children of law enforcement officers in Monongalia County Sheriff’s Department; (4) sworn law enforcement officers of Monongalia County
  • Selection may also be made by May Scholarship Committee in consultation with Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Director of Criminal Justice Program at FSU
  • Other factors considered in selection include full time enrollment status, junior status with minimum overall GPA of 2.5, financial need
  • Scholarship can be renewed but is not guaranteed
  • To be used for tuition, books and fees
  • Application Deadline – February 1, 2023
  • Be a PROMISE Scholarship recipient.
  • Submit a completed Charles J. McClain Presidential Scholarship application and essay.
  • Complete your Fairmont State University admissions file (general application, high school transcript, test scores) prior to deadline.
  • Have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher.
  • Have ACT composite of 26 or higher or SAT composite of 1190 or higher (excluding writing score).
  • Participate in on-campus interviews.
Robert W. McCollum Memorial Endowed Scholarship
  • General athletic scholarship
  • Recipient selected on an annual basis
  • FSU student
The Meredith Family Scholarship
  • Graduates of Monongah Middle School, North Marion High School or Preston High School who are a residents of the Valley District
  • Financial need
  • Not receiving any other scholarship from the Foundation
  • Full-time student
  • Renewable for eight continuous semesters
  • Selection by Meredith Scholarship Committee
Sharon Weaver Messmore Endowed Scholarship
  • Applicant must be a Fairmont Senior High graduate attending FSU with a sound academic record
  • Preference to an Education major, but not limited to that field
  • Be an undergraduate student from PA, OH, KY, MD, DC, and VA
  • Be entering Fairmont State University as a first-time freshman (no prior college beyond high school)
  • Complete your Fairmont State University admissions file (general application, high school transcript, SAT and ACT scores) prior to entry to Fairmont State University by April 1st

  • Candidate must be selected by FSU men's head basketball coach
    • Candidate's eligibility must meet all NCAA, MEC and FSU eligibility requirements

  • Be a first time freshmen (no prior college)
  • Live outside of West Virginia (Metro rate states not eligible, includes Pennsylvania, Ohio, Maryland, Kentucky, Virginia and DC).
  • Complete your FSU admissions file (general application, high school transcript, test scores).
  • If you meet these requirements, our staff will combine your ACT or SAT score with your GPA to confirm that you qualify as a high achieving student.
Pallotta Family Scholarship in Memory of James V. & Ruth Pallotta
  • Students from Marion, Monongalia, or Preston county
  • 3.0 or greater GPA
  • First preference for students majoring in Nursing, Engineering, Business or Education
  • Renewable provided student maintain a 3.0 GPA and meet other selection criteria
Vince Palmer Endowed Scholarship
  • Monongalia County resident

  • Preference to deputy sheriff and/or immediate family

  • Students can be awarded $250 per semester for participation in Fine Arts or Athletics

  • Major: elementary or science education

  • Limited to tuition and fees
Salvatore, Anne, Thomas, James, and Giovanni Peluso Scholarship
  • Student majoring in Language & Literature with preference given to a student interested in Folklife studies
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Renewable
  • Preference may be given to students of Italian American heritage as long as the award is administered per the policies and procedures of the Foundation and the Financial Aid Office
    • Students may be required to submit a paper to the Foundation describing the influence of their heritage and culture in their life
The PEO Endowed Scholarship
  • Financial need
  • Non-traditional student with a preference to a Marion County resident
  • The award, if from time to time deemed appropriate by the PEO Sisterhood Scholarship Committee, may be given throughout their college career
  • Students entering college for first time or re-entering college after a time away need not have minimum GPA
  • For returning students the minimum GPA is 3.2

The Anthony J. and Josephine Pitrolo Endowed Scholarship
  • Must not be receiving any other scholarship or aid from the Foundation

  • Preference will be given to Marion County high school graduates, but recipients need not be exclusively from the county
Andee Pollastrini Scholarship
  • Non-traditional Nursing student in either the two- or four-year program
  • May be renewable
  • Family request that the recipient be informed of the origin of the scholarship, and that the recipient tell Andee's story to the class so more people will know about domestic violence
Woodrow A. Potesta Scholarship of Accounting
  • Demonstrated financial need
  • High school GPA of 2.0
  • Accounting major
  • Renewable up to four years with a maximum 2.0 GPA (up to 2.5 if need be)
  • Preferable but not required that the recipient be a resident of the western portion of Green County, Pa.; Monongalia County or Marion County, W.Va. If no student is eligible from these counties, a student from West Virginia must be selected for the scholarship
Frank Pulice, Jr., Endowed Scholarship Fund
  • Applicants should be members of the Theta Delta Chapter of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity
  • Eligibility may be extended to the Theta Delta Alumni and their immediate families
  • If for any reason there are no qualified applicants from the aforementioned, the Scholarship Committee may open the award to any FSU student who qualifies
  • Based on financial need
  • Applicants must maintain a 2.5 overall average and be making normal progress toward degree completion

  • Freshman student(s) recipient must declare themselves as Elementary or Secondary Education majors and complete the necessary coursework to be accepted in the Elementary Education Program at FSU as sophomores
  • Recipient must have a minimum ACT score of 21 or a SAT equivalent of 990
  • Preference to West Virginia high school graduate
