After earning my Ph.D. in Biology from the University of Waterloo, I worked as a botanist with several institutions including the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA), the University of Guelph, and the Chicago Botanic Garden. My research focuses primarily on the genus Solidago (more commonly known as goldenrods) and involves extensive fieldwork in Ontario, the Midwest and the central Appalachian Mountains. Most recently, I taught courses in Introductory Botany, Flowering plants and Plant Biotechnology at the University of Waterloo before relocating to Fairmont from our family farm near London, Ontario, Canada with my husband and our two children.
