Professor of Chemistry

Dr. rer. nat. University of Regensburg

I received my doctorate in organic chemistry from the University of Regensburg (Germany, graduate work with Dr. Gottfried Märkl) in 1997 and came to Fairmont State after working as a post doc at UCLA (with Dr. Craig Merlic) and as a lecturer at Fresno State.  More recently, I worked as a visiting scholar with Dr. Jessica Hoover at WVU in the areas of catalysis and bioinorganic chemistry. At FSU I usually teach organic, inorganic, organometallic and biochemistry. In my free time, I like to spend time with my family, cook, garden, read and play guitar.

What do you like best about teaching at Fairmont State:

The small class sizes for lecture and laboratory sections allow me to interact with my students on a more personal level and to build relationships that sometimes last beyond their time at Fairmont State.
