I grew up in Fairmont and graduated from East Fairmont High School in 2000. After attempting college away from home, I came back to attend Fairmont State. I worked on campus as a math tutor, lab monitor and office worker in the Science and Technology Department. I completed my Mathematics degree in May 2005 and Computer Science in May 2006.
Take advantage of the small class sizes, join study groups and do not be afraid to talk to your professors. Also, work on campus if possible.
You do not have to be perfect to do well in college. Everyone makes mistakes, and as long as you can learn from them, you can still succeed. The professors at Fairmont State are wonderful; they are always willing to help and their doors are always open. When you are finished and realize how much you have learned, all the frustrations and mistakes you may have made will be outweighed by your accomplishments.
