Professor Hokom came to Fairmont State University in 2001 from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln where he received his Ph.D. and M.A. and, prior to this, from the University of Puget Sound, where he took his B.A. in English. His interests include American literature, particularly Willa Cather and the American Renaissance, literature of the Great Plains, and classical antiquity.
Aside from his teaching duties, he enjoys hiking, fishing, food (both cooking and eating), translating Ancient Greek, caring for his tropical fish, and listening to any sort of music that features fiddles, steel guitars or yodeling.
