ESL - English as a Second Language

 Our goal is to help you achieve English language proficiency to prepare you for academic success.

Our ESL program follows the same academic schedule as other programs; however, ESL students may start on any of the following dates:

Costs (per semester)

  • ESL tuition: $4,400
  • Room and Board: $4,592      


Students are encouraged to participate in events, programs, and organizations across campus. These include:

  • Conversation Partner Program 
  • International Student Organization
  • Intramural Sports 


The ESL Program offers full-time students 12-18 hours of instruction per semester.  We offer two levels of instruction for core classes.  The course schedule for Spring 2018 includes the following:

  • Reading & Writing 1 & 2*
  • Speaking & Listening 1 & 2*
  • Life Skills (Level 1 only)
  • University Skills (Level 2 only)
  • American Culture
  • News in English
  • Intensive Study

*All incoming students are required to take a short placement test in order to ensure that they are in the appropriate core classes for their English skill level.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language)

The ESL program administers an institutional TOEFL ITP twice per semester.  The cost is $30 per student and must be paid before the test date.  The test is open to all students and is optional for ESL students.
