Minimum Proficiency Requirements

The following scores are the minimum scores required for admission to the ESL Program.

Classes

The ESL Program is an intensive course of study with an academic preparation focus.  Upon admission to the program, students are placed into the A2, B1, or B2 level based on any English proficiency test score provided.  If no score is provided, a placement test will be administered upon arrival.

The ESL Program offers four integrative skills-based classes: 

  • Academic Reading (1 Credit Unit (CU))
  • Composition (2 CUs)
  • Listening and Speaking (1 CU)
  • Grammar Studies (2 CUs)

Full-time students take a total of 6 CUs per term, or 12 CUs per semester.  Part-time students may take up to 9 CUs per semester.
