The Creative Sustainability Council is working on a service project to take
those pesky plastic grocery bags that everyone has a plethora of and give
them a second life. We cut the bags and link the pieces to make string, then
either crochet or knit with the string to make a sleeping mat about the size
of a yoga mat. These mats will be donated to homeless shelters and soup
kitchens for people who do not have a place to sleep.
Every Tuesday from July 9 to Aug. 13 in the University Terrace lobby, 6 – 8
pm, you can stop by to learn how to make the string and how to crochet. If
you already know how to crochet or knit, we strongly encourage you to come
join in the production! This project is a great way to make new friends and
get out of your usual space. Light snacks will be provided. For more
information, contact Sarah Starcovic (email@example.com)
Hope to see you there!
