OF ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCILS

A. ACADEMIC AFFAIRS COUNCIL



Responsibilities: The Academic Affairs Council is responsible for planning and coordinating the overall direction of the various academic programs and support services of the college. It encourages cooperation among the various academic disciplines. The council also serves as a means of communication among the academic units and the college administration. In addition, members of the council serve to advise the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. Proposals for new academic programs which are initiated by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs are reviewed by the council before they are submitted to the Curriculum Committee.



Membership: The Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs presides over the Academic Affairs Council. In addition, the members include: the President, the Assistant to the President, the Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, the School chairpersons, the Provost for the Community and Technical College, the Dean of Teacher Education, the Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, the Registrar, the Director of the Learning Skills Center, the Director of the Library, the Director of Media Services, the Director of the Gaston Caperton Center, the Associate Provost for Information Technology, the Director for Economic Development, and the Head of the Department of Health and Human Performance. The Vice President for Administration and Finance is an ex-officio member.





B. FACILITIES ADMINISTRATION COUNCIL



Responsibilities: The Facilities Administration Council is responsible for evaluating the utilization of facilities and approving changes in utilization patterns. It is responsible for planning for the development and modification of physical facilities. It develops and revises rules and regulations for the use of facilities. The council is responsible for determining policy regarding the scheduling of the use of facilities. Requests by both internal and external groups to use college facilities are evaluated and approved or rejected by the council.



Membership: Assistant to the President, Chairperson; Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs; Provost for Community and Technical College; Vice President for Administration and Finance; Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Affairs; Associate Vice President for Information Technology, Executive Director of Institutional Advancement; Director of Facilities; Registrar; President of the Faculty Senate (or his/her designee); President of the Classified Staff Council (or his/her designee); President of the Student Government (or his/her designee).
