The Campus

The 120-acre main campus of Fairmont State University sits on a hillside in Fairmont, West Virginia, the county seat of Marion County. In fact, we were known for years as "the college on the hill." Fairmont is noted for being the home of the original pepperoni roll, the inaugural celebration of Father's Day, Olympic champion Mary Lou Retton, and Johnnie Johnson, the "father of rock and roll."

Fairmont State University turns opportunity, passion, and hard work into excellence in a vibrant, close-knit campus community where students and teachers become your friends for life. Here, you’ll enjoy the opportunities offered by a comprehensive state university combined with the personal attention and campus atmosphere you’d expect from a small, private school.

Being the “biggest” or “most exclusive” school has never been our goal. We just want to be the school that prepares hard-working, passionate students like you for a lifetime of success.
