How to manually create a link to a file, such as a PDF, in the right-column links area of a 1ColNav page
- Open a center column content block and type the words Temp Link.
- Use the cursor to highlight the words Temp Link.
- While the words are highlighted, click on the Insert Image icon (also known as Media Manager), change the default choice from Image to File. Click on Upload, Browse, locate and click on the filename you want to upload and link to, click Open, click Insert.
- After this temporary link to your uploaded file has been created, click OK to close editor. Preview your page. While viewing the preview, right click on the link (Temp Link), and select properties from the menu, carefully highlight and copy the entire URL (including the http://). Click OK to close and close preview page.
- Go to CMS step 4, which is used for manually creating links that appear in the right column under "Quick Links."
- Link Text: Enter words to name your link in the box titled Link Text.
- Destination URL: Paste the URL you previously copied into the Destination URL box.
- If desired, control the list-position of the link by entering a number in the Order box and then click on Add Link.
- Preview the page and test your new link.
- Delete the Temp Link used to obtain the uploaded file’s URL.
