  • Applicants for residence hall reservations must forward a deposit at the time the application is filed with Fairmont State. Notice of cancellation of room reservations must be received in writing by May 31st for the fall term and by November 30th for the spring term. A deposit is not required for the summer terms, however an application needs to be signed and a meal ticket purchased.

  • If you are canceling your contact, it is due to cancelled enrollment.

  • The contract is for one academic year - August through May.

  • Firecrackers, drugs, drug paraphernalia, alcoholic beverages, firearms or any other illegal items are not permitted.

  • All the residence halls are smoke free. No smoking will be permitted in any area of the residence halls, including private rooms. Smoking areas outside the residence halls will be designated. Smokeless tobacco is prohibited from all public areas.

  • Members of the opposite sex are permitted to visit residents' rooms from noon to midnight daily. Overnight visitation privileges will be voted on at the beginning of the fall semester. The Vice President for Student Affairs will make the final decision in regard to the overnight visitation policy. If approved, residents are required to abide by all stipulations that are describes in the Residence Life Handbook.

  • All guests must be registered with the staff at each resident hall entrance.

  • The residence halls are closed during all vacation periods and semester breaks. Residents must vacate the residence halls during the Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Spring breaks. Break housing is availble for students who are approved. Information regarding break housing is distributed prior to each break period.

  • Each resident is expected to abide by Fairmont State's Student Code of Conduct and our Residence Life Handbook. Violators will face disciplinary action and if removed from the hall will not be granted a refund of room and dining charges, or the ability to pay for your education.

  • The status of your financial aid from Fairmont State has no bearing on your residence life contract. Residents are not released from their housing contracts for inability to pay unless they completely withdrawal from all classes.

  • At the conclusion of the fall semester, students who are placed on Academic Probation will lose their financial aid for the spring semester. However, resident students will still be responsible to pay all fees including housing for the spring semester. No release from the housing contract can be attributed to the loss of financial aid.
