Room Changes
Room and roommate assignments are made during the summer with a mailing to each resident sent during the first week of August. If you wish to make a change in the assignment, you must wait until arriving in August to do so. Assignments are made on a first-come, first-serve basis as to the date when completed applications and deposits are received in the Residence Life Office.
In order for a specific roommate request to be considered, both parties must name each other on their respective applications, which should be received in our office as close together as possible, possibly the same day. Please do not assume that because you request a specific person for a roommate that you will automatically be placed in a room with him or her. We will do everything possible to honor your roommate request without impacting other student’s housing assignments based upon their date of application. Requests received more than 2 weeks apart will not be honored.
The residence life staff coordinates room changes during the academic year. Residents must wait two weeks at the start of each semester during the room freeze period. Room swap request forms are available in each residence hall for students wishing to change rooms.
Room Changes in Between Semesters
Students who wish to change rooms during winter break will need to complete a wait list application. Wait list applications are available the Monday following Thanksgiving Break and must be submitted the last Friday of classes.
Consolidation Policy
Residents will be required to consolidate during the semester in the event that a vacancy should occur in their double room and we are unable to fill that vacancy. Residents will be allowed to move in with another student with a vacancy, or have another student move into their room. Residents may be charged to buyout the vacancy in their room if they fail to comply with the consolidation process.
