Admission Requirements
All applicants seeking admission to the Associate of Science Degree Nursing Program are required to meet admission requirements for FSU and the School of Nursing.
The general requirements of Fairmont State University which must be met include the following:
- Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA to be considered.
- Submit a resume
- Submit an application for admission to FSU
- Take and submit ACT, SAT or COMPASS, scores
- Submit a high school transcript or GED scores; college and/or LPN transcripts to the Office of Admissions at Fairmont State University. Evidence of all post secondary education attempted or completed must be submitted to the Enrollment Center.
The requirements for admission to the Associate Degree Nursing Program, which must be met, include the following:
- Submit an application for the School of Nursing and the admission fee by December 1st.
- Demonstrate successful completion of courses in biology, chemistry, and algebra in high school or college. All pre-requisites must be met by December 1.
- Attain a score of 19 or better on the mathematics portion of the ACT, or a score of 460 or higher on the SAT, or equivalent COMPASS score, or have successfully completed Math 0095 or Math 1107.
- Achieve a score of 18 or better on the English component of the ACT, or a score of 450 or higher on the SAT, or an equivalent COMPASS score, or have successfully completed English 0097 or English 1104.
- Attain a score of 50 or above on the Math and English components, a score of 60 or higher on the reading component, and a score of 63 or higher on the Science component of the required nursing entrance examination, the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). - Submit the above information to the Office of Admissions, Fairmont State University, 1201 Locust Avenue, Fairmont,WV 26554-2470. All information must be in the Enrollment Center by December 1. Submission of fall semester grades and the receipt of test scores done on or before December 1st will be accepted at the end of the fall semester.
- Students admitted to the program must submit a completed health form, criminal background check , immunization records, and CPR certification for final approval.
If you have applied in previous years and were not admitted, you must REAPPLY. Names are not carried over.
