All applicants seeking admission to theAssociate Degree Nursing Program are required to meet admission requirementsfor FSU and the School of Nursing
1. The general requirements of Fairmont State University which must bemet include the following:
a. Applicants must have a 2.0 GPA to beconsidered.
b. Submit a resume
c. Submitan application for admission to FSU
d. Take andsubmit ACT, SAT or COMPASS, scores
e. Submit a high school transcript or GEDscores; college and/or LPN transcripts to the Office of Admissions atFairmont State University. Evidence of all post secondary education attemptedor completed must be submitted to the Enrollment Center.
2. The requirements for admission to the Associate DegreeNursing Program, which must be met, include the following:
a. Submitan application for the school of nursing and the admission fee by December 1st.
b. Demonstrate successful completion ofcourses in biology, chemistry, and algebra in high school or college. Allpre-requisites must be met by December 1.
c. Attain a score of 19 or better on themathematics portion of the ACT, or a score of 460 or higher on the SAT, orequivalent COMPASS score, or have successfully completed Math 0095 or Math1107.
d. Achieve a score of 18 or better on theEnglish component of the ACT, or a score of 450 or higher on the SAT, or anequivalent COMPASS score, or have successfully completed English 0097 orEnglish 1104.
e. Attain a score of 50 or above on theMath and English components, a score of 60 or higher on the reading component,and a score of 63 or higher on the Science component of the required nursingentrance examination, the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS). f. Submit the above information to theOffice of Admissions, Fairmont State University, 1201 Locust Avenue, Fairmont,WV 26554-2470. All information must be in the Enrollment Center by December 1. Submission of fall semester grades and the receipt of test scores done on orbefore December 1st will be accepted at the end of the fall semester.
g. Students admitted to the program mustsubmit a completed health form, criminal background check , immunizationrecords, and CPR certification for final approval.
If you have applied in previous years and were not admitted, you must REAPPLY. Names are not carried over.
