Department of Music Hosts Senior Recital for Elizabeth Bertovich

On November 17, at 6:00 pm, Fairmont State University student Elizabeth Bertovich will be having her Senior Recital. Bertovich, a percussionist and a student of Ryan Frost, will be performing pieces on marimba, timpani and multiple percussion from composers such as Mitchell Peters, Erik Satie, Alice Gomez, Steve Reich and James Campbell. This recital will be on the FSU Campus in Wallman Hall Room 229.

Fairmont State University Community Orchestra to perform Nov. 3

The Fairmont State University Community Orchestra will be having a concert at 3:00 p.m. November 3 in Colebank Hall. , Directed by Jack Ashton with piano soloist Paul-Andrè Bempèchat, the program will include Hebridges (Fingal’s Cave) Overture, Op. 26 by Felix Mendelssohn, Petite Suite by Claude Debussy (Orchestrated by Henri Busser),  Symphony No. 90 by Joseph Haydn and Piano Concerto No.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts announces the campus residency of pianist Kari Johnson on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13 and 14, which will include a public performance and masterclasses. 

Johnson will perform a recital of contemporary and classical piano repertoire at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 13, in Colebank Hall. Tickets for the recital are $10 and may be purchased in advance through the Fairmont State Box Office at (304) 367-4240 or at the door.

A total of 1,130 students have been named to the Dean’s List at Fairmont State University after completing the fall 2014 semester.

Dr. Christina Lavorata, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, has released the Dean’s List and the President’s List to recognize high-achieving students for their academic distinction. Full-time students who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average for the fall 2014 semester are named to the Dean’s List. Full-time students achieving a perfect 4.0 grade point average are named to the President’s List.

The Fairmont State University Masquers theatre group collected more than $700 in monetary and material donations for The Nest, the FSU student food bank, during the December 2014 performance run of "It's A Wonderful Life." Pictured are Masquers members Katie Groover, Lindsay Morgan, Brandon Lee, Gary Hayes and Craig Birkmeyer.

Originally located in the Ruth Ann Musick Library, The Nest is now located on the second floor of the Falcon Center across from the Student Government office, which is near the side building entrance closest to Prichard and Morrow halls.
