Saxophone Ensemble Offers April 23 Concert

On April 23 at 7:30 pm on the FSU Campus in Wallman Hall Room 229, the Fairmont State University Saxophone Ensemble, Directed by Randall Hall. The performance will feature “The Funeral March of the Marionette” by Charles Gounod. The Performance will also included selections such as Summer Nocturne by Lennie Niehaus, Scnerzo for Saxophone Quartet by Warren Baker, Ye Banks and Braes O’Bonnie Doon arranged by Lloyd Conley, Pavane by Gabriel Faure and Beale Street Blues by W.C. The Fairmont State University Department of Music kicks off its new Music on the Hill Guest Artist Series with a performance this week.

Dr. Janice Haworth will present the first concert of the series at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in Wallman Hall Theatre. Her presentation will include photos and videos of life and music in Guinea, where she spent two years, as well as performances by FSU’s Percussion and World Percussion ensembles.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts presents the work of Courtney Kessel in her solo exhibition “mother lode” on display in the J.D. Brooks Memorial Gallery in Wallman Hall through Friday, Oct. 3.

Gallery hours are Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. An exhibition opening and artist’s lecture are planned for 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, at the Brooks Gallery.
