The Visual Arts Preparatory Department of The Fairmont State University Academy for the Arts provides all ages with a range of visual art media and experiences. Classes include quality age appropriate instruction taught by qualified instructors. Children are encouraged to explore creative problem solving while adults enjoy revisiting artistic interests or learning a new skill through hands-on activities in a group atmosphere.

The Fairmont State University Department of Art announces the solo painting exhibition “Genesis” by artist Dan Hernandez opens Monday, Sept. 12.

The JD Brooks Gallery, located on the fourth floor of Wallman Hall on the FSU main campus, is open Mondays through Fridays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the exhibition will run from Sept. 12 through Oct. 4. A closing reception and gallery talk are planned for 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 4. Admission to the exhibit and the reception is free and open to the public. For more information, call (304) 367-4147.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts announces a comprehensive printmaking retrospective. The 109 prints included in this exhibition showcase the work of Fairmont State students over the past seven years, and the work represents students from both Printmaking I and Printmaking II. All work was done via the media available at on-campus print facilities, including linoleum relief, intaglio (dry points and etchings done on zinc plates) and polyester plate lithography.

The Fairmont State University School of Fine Arts will host the third annual West Fork New Music Festival on the University campus Friday, Sept. 23, and Saturday, Sept, 24. Guest composers and performers from West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia will be in attendance.
