From my first year at Fairmont State University, I had no doubt that I made the right decision for my education based on my career interest of being a Special Educator. Not only did Fairmont State’s Elementary Education Program prepare me for the field of teaching, but the Graduate Program enhanced my abilities in the Special Needs Classroom. The various strategies I learned and practiced through my Graduate Studies have been extremely beneficial to not only me, but my students as well. I have had the opportunity to share these strategies in addition to various practices with my colleagues and I believe that by doing so, I have been able to enrich my work environment as well as the curriculum in my classroom, and classrooms of others. Additionally, Fairmont State encouraged me to dig deep and learn using a hands-on approach to learning as well as teaching.

The best way to gain wisdom is through experience and I feel that Fairmont State University’s Graduate Program provided me the opportunity to take advantage of some enlightening experiences through my school work, both through online courses and clinical placements matching my specific specializations. Furthermore, the professors at Fairmont State are knowledgeable, encouraging, and willing to help their students far past their Graduation date. The relationships I built with my professors at Fairmont State even further ensured me every day that no other decision on where to gain my education would have even been reasonable. In Fairmont State’s Education Department, it doesn’t end when you get your final grade. It’s far more than that. This University had a great impact on me as a student, a young adult, and now a professional, and has more than prepared me for my current and future endeavors as an educator.
