Biography:
I was born in Khorat, Thailand. I graduated from high school in 1986, finished a two-year degree at Jefferson Community College in 1990, then served six years in the U.S. Navy on board the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3, out of Sasebo, Japan. I worked various computer related jobs until I was laid off in 2003. I decided to use my GI Bill and get my bachelor’s degree. I started classes at Fairmont State as a Music Education major, but after two semesters, the call of Computer Science was too much for me to resist. I graduated in May 2007 with a Bachelors of Science degree, majoring in both Computer Science and Math. Happily married since 1998, I will be negotiating employment in the Clarksburg area and hope to be employed by the end of May.
What advice would you give current or prospective students?:
Good communication with your advisor and professors is key to a successful college career no matter where you go to school. From the start, take charge of your future and ask as many questions as you need to ensure that you are on the right path in reaching your educational goals.
What was the most important thing you learned while attending Fairmont State?:
Start strong. Whether in school, on the job or in life, start off strong. Time goes by fast. Before you know it, the semester is almost over; a strong opening means that at the end you are tying up loose ends rather frantically trying to pull the lines in before the ship docks.
