Biography:
Dr. Beth Newcome serves as the Chair for the School of Health & Human Services for Fairmont State Community & Technical College. She also is professor, advisor and program coordinator for Applied Design, offering an associate degree in Fashion or Interior Design. Newcome holds a B.S. and an M.S. from West Virginia University in Family and Consumer Sciences Education and a doctorate in Human Ecology from The Ohio State University, with a major in educational administration with minors in historic textiles and educational technology. Newcome is the curator of both the Historic Textile Commodity Bags Collection and the Masquers Vintage Clothing Collection, which serve as auxiliary research resources for the West Virginia Folklife Center at Fairmont State University. She is past recipient of the FS Faculty Achievement Award and the WVAFCS Outstanding Faculty in Higher Education award.
