The IT network supports most portable devices with the ability to connect to our wireless network, as well as the Cloud.  This Tablet Comparison Chart shows the capabilities of a variety of tablets currently on the market.  Please check back, as we continue to add new devices.

Connecting to the Wireless Network

Connect to Campus_User Wireless with Windows 7

Connect to Campus_User Wireless with Windows Vista

Connect to Campus_User Wireless with Mac or iPad: 

• Click Connect
• Accept Certificate (wireless.fairmontstate.edu)
• Enter UCA and Password (students enter UCA@students)

Connect to Campus_User Wireless with an Android Device:

• Settings >Wireless and network settings >Wi-Fi
• Turn on wi-fi
• Campus User (secured with 802.1x eap)
• EAP Method: PEAP
• Phase 2 authentication: MSCHAPV2
• Identity (UCA Username)
• Anonymous id: Blank
• Password: UCA Password
• Connect

Connecting to the Cloud

The Library and many computer labs on campus are in the process of being connected to the Cloud.  Faculty and staff will continue to connect to the FAIRMONTSTATE domain, and students connect to the STUDENTS domain.

Laptops, tablets and other devices may be connected to the Cloud by following the instructions below.

Windows Laptops (32 bit):  Follow these instructions to connect to the Cloud using a Windows laptop.

• Connect to the Campus_User wireless network
• Download VMware-viewclient-4.6.0-366101.exe
• The Installation Wizard will open
• Click Next
• Click Next
• Select "I accept the terms in the license agreement"
• Click Next
• Custom Setup - click Next
• Default Server - click Next
• Enhanced Single Sign-On - click Next
• Configure Shortcuts - click Next
• Click Install
• Click Finish
• Click Yes to restart your computer
• After restarting, double-click on the VMware View Client icon on the desktop
• Under Connection Server, enter cloud.fairmontstate.edu or cloud.pierpont.edu
• Check the box "Login as current user"
• Click Connect
• Enter UCA and password, select domain FAIRMONTSTATE for faculty and staff or STUDENTS for students
• Select the desired image (ex. Employee Windows 7)
• Click Connect

Windows Laptops (64 bit):  Follow these instructions to connect to the Cloud using a Windows laptop.

• Connect to the Campus_User wireless network
• Download VMware-viewconnectionserver-x86_64-4.6.0-366101.exe
• The Installation Wizard will open
• Click Next
• Click Next

Mac:   Follow these instructions to connect to the Cloud using a macbook.

• Connect to the Campus_User wireless network
• Download VMware-View-Client-4.6.0-366101.dmg
• Enter IP address cloud.fairmontstate.edu
• Click Continue
• Select desired image (ex. Employee Windows 7)
• Click Continue
• Click Allow to store password in keychain

iPad:  Follow these instructions to connect to the Cloud using an iPad.

• Connect to the Campus_User wireless network
• Download and install the free VMware View app from the App Store
• Click Add View Connection Server
• Enter host name cloud.fairmontstate.edu or cloud.pierpont.edu
• Enter Username (UCA) and Password when prompted
• Under Domain, select FAIRMONTSTATE for faculty and staff or STUDENTS for students
• Click Done
• Select desired image (ex. Employee Windows 7)

Android Tablet/Phone:  Follow these instructions to connect to the Cloud using an Android tablet or phone.

• Connect to the Campus_User wireless network
• Download and install the VMWare View Tech Preview (free) from the Android Market
• Select Add View Connection Server
• Server name - cloud.fairmontstate.edu or cloud.pierpont.edu
• Server description - click Done
• Click Connect
• Enter UCA, Password, and select the type of desktop to connect to (STUDENTS, FAIRMONTSTATE, OR LABS)
• Select the desired desktop image

How to Map a Network Drive

• Connect to Campus_User wireless
• Under the Start Menu, select "Computer"

• Click on "Map network drive".

• Under Drive: select the drive you wish to connect to (M: or U:)
• In the Folder: field, type \\pftfs001\users\yourUCA
• Check Reconnect at logon
• Click Finish
