IT Services has recently been working to improve some of its automated back-end processes. The first work has occurred on distribution group maintenance. If, from Outlook, you attempt to send to one of the distribution groups (for instance, "* FSU All Employees") and the message appears to bounce back with an error, the TLC needs to help you rebuild your Outlook cache.
Please note that this information applies only to FSU faculty who also have Pierpont students in class. This change will not affect FSU student emails.
As of August 1, Pierpont IT moved their student email to Gmail. With that, Pierpont student emails changed from UCA@students.pierpont.edu to UCA@pierpont.edu. If you use Blackboard to communicate with your students, you don’t need to do anything differently.
FSU student email addresses were replaced in the Global Address List (GAL) last Friday. By now, Outlook should have updated your GAL, and you should see those emails. If not, please see below.
How to update Outlook GAL
To manually update the GAL, please do the following.
Open Outlook and Click File in the upper left corner.
Choose Account Settings, and then Download Address Book.

IT made some changes over the summer to improve service to student email. This change may result in some incorrectly returned email. If you email a Fairmont State University student and get a bounced email, please do one of the following.
