International Education Committee
a committee of Faculty Senate
What We Do
“The International Education Committee shall investigate, promote, and coordinate all phases of international education among students and faculty and shall assist in their coordination.” ( Faculty Senate Handbook, 2004-05, Article 5, Sec. 7, Sub-section I)
Historically the committee has focused most of its efforts on the annual selection of recipients for the International Scholarship and the Nepali Scholarship.
Recently the committee has worked with other groups on campus to promote International Week, Taste of the World, co-hosted the International Film Series, organized the 2004 tsunami fundraising Cajun dance, and works with the International Student Organization.
As a committee of Faculty Senate, all meeting are open to students, staff, and faculty. The committee usually meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month during the fall and spring semesters in 121 Hardway, 12:30 – 1:30. These times can vary, however, depending on a number of factors.
Membership
Committee members are annually appointed from the 4-year university and the community college by the Committee on Committees. Membership also includes the Coordinator of International Student Advising, Coordinator of International Education, Director of Multicultural Affairs, Director of English as a Second Language, and the Director of Admissions (ex-officio)
Minutes
The minutes of each meeting are posted online in WebCT VISTA. When logging into VISTA select Learning Technologies Center, then Faculty Senate Forum. Then select Committees, then Standing Faculty Senate Committees, then International Education, then International Education Materials. Minutes are updated monthly.
