Hometown:
Wheeling, West Virginia
High School:
Wheeling Park High School
Why Attend?:

I chose Fairmont state for a few reasons. One reason is because I’m not too far from home. But the second and main reason is that I wanted to challenge myself. If I would’ve stayed and went to a college close to home, then I would’ve been distracted very easily and that would impair my ability to make the most out of myself.

Most Surprised:

I’ve been most surprised about the level of work that’s expected out of you. It’s definitely a wake-up call that screams we’re not in high school anymore.

Experiences:

My experience so far has been interesting. The people in the Honors Program are very friendly and they do what they can to make us feel comfortable. I’m very glad that I chose to be a part of the Honors family.

Advice:

I would tell them to consider all of the options and to not go somewhere just because someone wants them to. I would also tell them to see what every single one of the colleges has to offer (clubs, sports, etc). Extracurricular activities are important in college, too.

Difference between courses:

In my high school honor courses, the main difference from the regular courses was the workload. In the Honors courses here at Fairmont State, the main difference is that it requires a higher level of thinking.
