Salem, West Virginia
High School:
Liberty High School
Why Attend?:

I chose Fairmont State because it is close to home, and a very good quality school. The people I met here before deciding to enroll were always very friendly and courteous, and still are. The campus is also just the right size for someone like me, and it isn’t too spread out. I also became interested in the programs and opportunities that are here, particularly National Security and Intelligence (NSI) and the Honors Program. I was so excited when I finally got the ACT scores to be in Honors.

Most Surprised:

It has still amazed me how nice everyone is here at Fairmont State. I wasn’t expecting everyone to be so friendly. It also amazes me that I enjoy living on campus. I didn’t know if I would like it or not before I came.

So far, I really like the Honors Program. I feel like I’m not completely facing college on my own because the people in the program are so willing to help. There are so many good things about the Honors Program that I hope I will be in it for the rest of my college life.

I would tell them to look at different college campuses and to choose which one they feel the most comfortable with. One of the most important questions to ask a high school senior is; “What do you think life would be like at this college?”  If they think they can see themselves there and being successful and happy, they should choose that college.

Difference between courses:

The Honors courses do seem a lot more difficult than most of my high school courses. I don’t know if any of them will seem tougher than the calculus I took in high school though, that course was extremely hard.
