2011 NCCEP/GEAR UP Youth Leadership Summit
We are happy to announce that NCCEP is now accepting applications for the 2011 NCCEP/GEAR UP Youth Leadership Summit.
As you know, the Youth Leadership Summit was developed by NCCEP in an effort to include the student-centered perspective and the opinion of the youth in the education reform debate. During the Summit, youth will be provided opportunities to participate in a wide range of activities in conjunction with the NCCEP/GEAR UP Annual Conference in San Francisco, CA from July 17-20, 2011. During the Summit, the youth leaders will participate in a broad range of activities, including leadership development training; as well as attending conference plenary sessions, and student forums. Their experience will culminate in the preparation and delivery of a presentation to over 2,000 conference attendees.
This year NCCEP will accept the application and reference letters electronically, however, we must receive the completed application packet with original signatures in order for the application to be considered by the Review Committee. Please note that the deadline for submission is April 15, 2011. All application packets must be postmarked on or before April 15, 2011 in order for the Review Committee to review the application. Applications postmarked after this date will not be considered.
The competitive application process requires each applicant to submit the formal application, a personal statement, academic transcripts; two adult reference letters; and a parental permission form. This year, we encourage all applicants to submit their Personal Statement using new media. However, we will still accept the essay should the student prefer to present their Personal Statement this way.
