GEAR UP School Activities

Below is a list of activities and events coming up at Fairmont State GEAR UP schools that are scheduled to benefit students and families of the program.  If you're interested in attending one of these programs, please contact your local school to get more information (school contact info may be obtained by clicking the name of the school).

Barbour County

Philip Barbour High School

  • The PBHS GO Center is open to students daily.

Robert C. Byrd High School

•  GO Center
  • The GO Center is located in the Counselors' Complex and is adjacent to the Counselors' offices and is available to students any time during the school day.
  • At the GO Center, students may use computers to reserch colleges, financial aid, and other career information.  ACT and SAT study information materials are available in the GO Center and tables are provided for the students to sit and browse through the material.

  • Math Tutoring is available in the library on Wednesday (3:00-4:00pm) from Alvis, Clayton, Pizzino

South Harrison High School

• GEAR UP Go Center
  • The GO Center will be open daily from 2:30 – 3:30 (students will be able to catch the city bus at 3:30 in front of the school).
    • The purpose of this Center is to work with students in Career/College preparation. Students will be able to use the Center’s computers to search for colleges, financial aid, and career information.  Students should register in the guidance office because space is limited.  The students will be able to develop and design their own individual programs. Students will work on their own goals and at their own pace. Contact Mr. Bloom at 291-9276 for more information.
