Win a Full-Ride Scholarship!

For the second year, West Virgina high school seniors have the opportunity to compete for Fairmont State University's and Pierpont Community & Technical College's premier academic scholarships that cover tuition and fees, room and board and a $1,000 textbook stipend.

FSU's full-ride scholarship is called the Charles J. McClain Scholarship.

	Meet the requirements. To qualify, you must be a current high school senior who lives in West Virginia. You must have a cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 and have an ACT composite of 26 or SAT composite of 1190. You have to be a PROMISE Scholarship recipient.	The deadline for applications is February 1, 2010
	Apply for admission. To be considered, you have to apply for admission to FSU or Pierpont. (Your admissions file must be complete, which means you have to complete your general application and send us your high school transcript and test scores.) To apply, click here. 	Complete a scholarship application. To fill out the Full-Ride Scholarship application, download this form and print it out. Once you have filled out the applcation, please mail it to Office of Admissions, 1201 Locust Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554. You also need to include an essay with your application. Please write an essay (450 words or less; double-spaced) about how this scholarship would help you achieve your educational goal..
Next Steps This is a competitive scholarship. Once you have applied for admission and for the scholarship by following the steps above, you will be contacted to schedule an on-campus interview. Charles J. McClain and Board of Governors Scholars will be chosen based on their academic qualifications, community service activities and leadership involvement in conjunction with your essay, admissions counselor recommendation and personal interview. Only three FSU students and one Pierpont student will be selected to receive this premier scholarship.

*Students who receive the scholarship must maintain a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA and must maintain their PROMISE Scholarship eligibility. FSU awards renewable for 3 years. Pierpont awards renewable for 1 year.

Fairmont State University’s full-ride scholarship winners for 2009 were Crystal Omregcik of Cameron High School, Kitty Dixon of North Marion High School and Garrett Sausen of Preston High School. The three are pictured with Dr. J. Robert Baker, Director of the Honors program. The scholarship winners were honored with plaques during the Academic Awards Celebration in May 2009.		Pierpont Community & Technical College’s full-ride scholarship winner for 2009 was Taylor Pyles of Hundred High School.
