A continuation of NURS 1105, this course is designed to help students develop knowledge of common adult health problems and to use the nursing process to promote good health in patients. Emphasis is placed on oxygenation (vascular/hematologic, respiratory and cardiac). Other life processes are considered as they apply throughout the course. Selected laboratory experiences in caring for hospitalized clients will enable the student to acquire knowledge and skills related to the theory studied and the student’s individual interests. Students will develop their roles as managers of care through involvement in team nursing. They will explore the concepts of leadership, delegation and collaboration while assuming the roles of team leader, medication nurse and patient educator.
