How do I change my online application password ?

  1. Click the Click Here link in the Forgotten your Password? box.
  2. Enter email address you used before.
  3. Click Next button.
  4. Enter hint question answer.
  5. Enter new password.
  6. Re-enter new password.
  7. Click Reset Password button.

Account

What is a UCA?

  1. Unified Computer Accounts, or UCAs, are unique usernames assigned to every faculty member, staff member, and student at Fairmont State University and Pierpont Community and Technical College.
  2. When you activate your UCA you will get a notification screen that tells you what the username is. Typically, it is the initial of your first name followed by your last name and in some cases a number. Ex. Freddie Falcon will have a UCA of ffalcon1. If he is a student at Pierpont C&TC his email address will be ffalcon1@students.pierpont.edu.
  3. UCAs cannot be changed. Even if you change your name your UCA will not change. If your UCA has been misspelled contact the Teaching and Learning Commons 304-367-4810 option 3.

How do I activate my UCA?

  1. Go to Fairmont State Homepage.
  2. Click the MyCampus link in the Quick Links column.
  3. Click Activate UCA link to the right.

Or you can go directly to Activate UCA

  1. Enter Social Security number in the first text box.
  2. Click the Next button directly below.
  3. Follow instructions. Be careful hint question and password are case sensitive.
  4. It will take 15 minutes for your password to take effect.

How do I change my UCA Password?

  2. Click the Next button directly below.
  3. Answer hint question.
  4. Type your new password in the box.
  5. Retype your password in the second box.
  6. Click change password now.
  7. It will take 15 minutes for all systems to update your password.

NOTE: If you are logged into a computer on campus and choose to use the Windows Change Password tool (CTRL+ALT+DEL-->Change Password) then you must log off and log back in to all systems before you can access their content. After using this utility it will take 5 minutes for all systems to update your password.


How do I change my Security Question and Answer?

  1. Log into FELiX.
  2. Select the Personal Information tab.
  3. Click "Change Security Question".
  4. Follow the directions listed.
  5. The Answers are case sensitive. You must match this answer when changing your password.
  6. Click Submit.

Why can't I log onto this computer?

  1. If you are a faculty or staff member you will use the FAIRMONTSTATE domain to log onto computers. If the computer you are trying to log onto is set up to log onto the STUDENTS domain you must enter fairmontstate\yourUCA in the username field.
  2. If you are a student you will use the STUDENTS domain to log onto computers. If the computer you are trying to log onto is set up to log onto the FAIRMONTSTATE domain you must enter students\yourUCA in the username field.

I am an alumnus. How do I request an email account?

At this time we are not providing alumni with e-mail accounts. If you had a UCA while you were a student you can re-activate that UCA and have access to e-mail. Please check the Teaching and Learning Commons webpage to see if there have been any changes.

Hardware

Why is my monitor/tower not coming on?

  1. Check to make sure all power cords are plugged in.
  2. Make sure all cords connecting the monitor to the tower are plugged in tight.
  3. If all cords are plugged in tight and that does not fix the problem call the solution center at 4810.

Why is my wireless mouse/keyboard not working?

  1. Most wireless devices have a reset button. Locate the reset button and press it.
  2. Restart the computer.
  3. Make sure there are fresh batteries in the device.

Software

Where can I purchase discounted software?

Faculty and Staff can purchase a home copy of Microsoft Office or Microsoft Vista from Heaster Hart by contacting Pam Heaster at 304-624-5485. Note that the licenses are only good while you are still employed by Fairmont State or Pierpont.

Students can receive discounts on Microsoft Products and other educational software by going to www.journeyed.com/select.


Where can I get antivirus software?

Students can go to Fairmont State University and click on the Vipre link or Pierpont Community and Technical College and click on the Free Anti-Virus Software link on the right. Enter students\your uca into the UCA field and your UCA password into the password field. Run when prompted.

Faculty and Staff can also download the software from these locations. However, when prompted faculty and staff are only required to put in their UCA and password.


How can I tell what Operating System I am running?

For Windows users:

  1. Wait for your computer to load the Desktop.
  2. Right Click on My Computer or Computer. You may have an icon on your desktop that says this. If not, click the Start button.
  3. Choose Properties.
  4. Your Operating System and other System information will be listed here.

For Mac users:

  1. Click the apple menu in the top left corner of the screen.
  2. In the apple menu click "About this Mac" or "About this Computer"
