Original Sentence: Copper(II) trifluoroacetate hydrate (0.119g) was placed into a round bottom flask and was a light blue color. The schlenk line was setup on the right side of the hood and both the vacuum and pump were operational. The flask was flushed with argon. The dewar was filled with liquid nitrogen and placed under the pipes. The pump was turned on and the release valve was turned to allow the argon to move across the schlenk line. The flask sat under argon until a color change occurred. The copper(II) trifluoroacetate changed light green in color.

Option 1: It was decided to attempt the reaction using dehydrated copper(II) trifluoroacetate hydrate, so 0.0119 g of copper(II) trifluoroacetate hydrate (a light blue color) was placed into a round bottom flask. 1. In order to prevent the growth of bacteria without pGLO, the plasmid also comes equipped with a resistance gene to the antibiotic ampicillin so the addition of ampicillin into the growth media will kill all bacteria without the plasmid.

2. The plasmid comes equipped with a resistance gene to the antibiotic ampicillin that prevents the growth of any bacteria without the pGLO plasmid.

3. The problem of eliminating all the bacteria that didn't take the pGLO plasmid is remedied by pGLO having a gene that makes the bacteria resistant to the antibiotic ampicillin.
